When more than half the world is comprised of women, it’s hard to fathom there have only been a few traces of female music composers in India. Usha Khanna was perhaps the most popular woman composer in Bollywood, but new-comers Shibani Kashyap (of the ‘Sajna’ fame) and Sneha Khanwalker (debuted on the soundtrack of GO) are hoping to change this male dominated industry. Sneha Khanwalker, along with the director of the film Dibakar Banerjee, come together in hopes of reviving Punjabi Pop with OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE!. This may not be the most anticipated album of the year, considering there’s only one well known name on the back cover (Mika), however that’s what makes this album even more intriguing.
